The Academy Active Citizenship Programme

Welcome to the Workers' Educational Association 'Active Citizenship' adult education project, funded through the Academy for Community Leadership.

We hope you will look at the courses and activities we have organised and join us, or approach us for a new activity relevant to you, your community, voluntary or trade union organisation. We welcome creative and interesting ideas.

What are the criteria for funding activities and for gaining a place on a course?

Firstly, you either are or want to be involved in the community as a volunteer, activist or campaigner and want to develop your own skills and knowledge?
Secondly, you want your organisation, group or
campaign to be more effective and to play a fuller
part yourself?
And lastly you over 18 years of age?

If you meet these criteria then do sign up, and it is all absolutely FREE. Furthermore, we can fund any learner support needs; from childcare to travel, materials to textbooks. We are committed to accessible and inclusive learning.

Our role is to provide educational opportunities to encourage more people to get involved and to realise that everyone can make a difference and has something to offer, especially when armed with the appropriate tools - skills, knowledge, understanding and awareness - and the collective support of others.

The Project is short term and is currently only funded until April 2008. So this is a small but exciting window of opportunity. Do come and join us.
