The Workers’ Educational Association (WEA) is the UK’s largest voluntary provider of adult education. Volunteers and staff in the WEA have been committed to providing accessible learning opportunities for adults in the heart of their communities since our organisation was founded in 1903. We run courses in community centres, schools, village halls, workplaces and occasionally in some surprising places. We have run courses for farmers in auction marts and for aspiring musicians in recording studios and live music venues.

WEA learners come from all kinds of backgrounds, but we try to give priority people who have previously missed out on education or who can’t find what they want from other educational organisations. We usually try to complement other educational opportunities that are available for adults.

The WEA is one of the UK’s biggest charities, and operates at local, regional and national levels with international links. The Yorkshire and Humber Region is one of nine English Regions.

Our vision is to be the recognised voice of adult learners, and the leading provider of adult and community learning in the UK by any standard.
