In the WEA, the student is placed at the centre of all our planning and delivery. We do our best to ensure that learning with us is pleasurable as well as stimulating, and that what is learnt - and the way it is learnt - is tailored to students’ own needs as closely as possible.

Courses are offered in response to local community demand - to what students say they want, rather than what others think they should need; and, as much as possible, course content itself is negotiated between students and tutor. In these ways (and very much in keeping with the democratic principles which underpin the WEA), students are placed at the centre of decision-making about their own learning.
